The Square People

I’ve been meaning to write this post, but as you can see, I’ve been neglecting my blog lately!

Anyway, as I was sitting with my sister in Rittenhouse the other day, a cute, quirky photog came up and introduced herself (Gaby) and asked if she could take some photos of us. Utterly embarrassed and equally intrigued, we said yes and she took some shots of us and Liam (it was his birthday!). Turns out she does this everyday and then posts them on her blog: www.thesquarepeople.blogspot.com. Very cool idea. She is also a wedding photographer! It was like fate that I met her as I was just starting my vendor search for this event planning adventure of mine. Not only is she a wedding photographer, and a good one at that, she works for the very talented Shea Roggio! Very cool. I am thinking of getting her to take some shots of Nick, Liam and me so we have some professional shots of us when he is still our baby!

Birthday Bash Photos

Phew! Made it through the first birthday party alive! It was a lot of planning and crafting and coordinating, but we did it! I think Liam could have done without all the people, but hey, I made it through my first year as a mom and I was going to celebrate!

We had 30 guests young and old, my 93 year old gram-mom was in attendance! Bruschettas, salads, ravioli and tortilinis filled us up along with a beautiful Salted caramel cake from Sweet Elizabeth’s Cakes… ummm maybe the best cake I’ve ever had! She also made various cupcakes (which I topped with Liam’s cute little mug:) which were delicious. I was so sad that Liam was too tired to enjoy his, so there is no “shoving the cupcake in face” shot haha.

Liam made out like a bandit and we all slept like babies that night! Thanks to everyone who helped and who partied with us, we had an awesome day!

Birthday Bash Decor

I’ve been busy! Here are the pics of my latest creations. Photo props/goodie bags for the kids, paper staws, filmstrips of the first 12 months (still can’t believe this).

The tins for all the goodies are from Target, but had some winter motifs, that’s why I added the colored paper strips, but I really like the way it turned out. The filmstrip frames were a gift from my mom and from IKEA I think.

Liam’s First Birthday Bash!

In one week my baby boy will officially be ONE! I can’t believe it, and I can’t wait to celebrate in a BIG way! After tossing around different ideas of where to host it (Please Touch, Nest, Smith Playground) I came to the conclusion that this is going to be a party consisiting of mostly adults, so let’s save those spaces for a party when he will be old enough to enjoy them. The party is going to be held at my in-laws in Oreland, PA. Not too far, and it gives me the freedom to have an open time frame and guest list.

I made the invites myself and I LOVE them. They follow the theme of Liam’s first year going by in a “flash”.  The party decor will consisit of the color scheme and the photos from his first year :) (I saw this idea on a few other blogs. I wanted something different than trucks and cars etc) I am so excited to celebrate and am working on other details this weekend. I will keep posting as I move things along

Hello world!

When I answer the question, “what do you do for a living?” I want to say “I plan amazing parties!”  That is the purpose of this blog.  I’m starting my own event planning business and I’m going to do it BIG.

For so long, I’ve been told I’m creative, stylish, crafty, quirky, dedicated and a people pleaser (sometimes to a fault).  I just want everyone around me to be happy, that’s my lot in life.  So … what better job for me than event planning; where I can letting my creative juices flow, keep the peace and ending up with smiling faces at a huge blowout bash?!

I’ve taken wedding planning classes at Temple University, done my stint at interning and now I’m ready to go out on my own. So, here I am: business plan is written, LLC registered, domain name purchased, business cards in the mail :)

Off to get my vendor list compiled and a client on the books!

Wish me luck!
